Florence Aliese Advancement Network, LLC (FAAN) was inspired by my two grandmothers; Florence and Aliese, who with limited education and economic opportunities guided my family through the dark times of American history such as Jim Crow, the Depression, WWII, and the Civil Rights Movement. Through kitchen table chats, wisdom was passed down through stories that empowered me to pursue a combination of higher education and front-line experience in the ongoing pursuit of social and economic justice for urban communities of color.
Today I consult, research, and practice on behalf of local governments and foundations to create homeless response systems that center on equity, living experience, and repair harm of past polices that segregated and fractured community.
Mission:
Build the capacity of city and county governments, and tribal communities to address homelessness through the development of culturally affirming, regional, holistic response systems that create communities of belonging.
Vision:
End racial disparities within the national homelessness system by creating community-level opportunities that support historically marginalized populations advance and thrive on par with historically advantaged populations, through the creation of beloved communities that foster a sense of belonging and purpose to all.
We will accomplish this vision by growing FAAN into one of the premiere woman owned, African American led management consulting firms in North America serving local governments, tribal communities, and established technical assistant firms in the development, evaluation, and refinement of homelessness response systems through a trauma-informed and equity lens.
